The Snarl Beast's docile form

The Snarl Beast is one of many ferocious creatures found on planet Sylvestra, a planet considered to be home of some of the most dangerous creatures in the universe. It's also one of the dominant predators which inhabit Sylvestra.

The Snarl Beast has two appearances: a form that resembles an Earth cat with 6 legs, and a form many times bigger. This larger form has five mouths filled with many sharp teeth, one centrally located and the other four on its four arms. Both of the Snarl Beast's forms have blue fur.

In it's smaller form, the Snarl Beast which appears in Issue 10 takes a liking to Dib, who was accidentally dragged along to Sylvestra by Zim when the latter traveled there with GIR to hunt and capture a Snarl Beast to show off at Skool with. When Zim converts his Voot Runner into a robotic hunter to track the Snarl Beast with, it shifts into its larger form and fights the Voot, until Zim manages to overpower it and trap it in a containment device (along with Dib, who is accidentally tossed into the Snarl Beast's main mouth just before). Zim then returns to Earth to gloat to the skoolchildren, but in the meantime the Snarl Beast reverts to its smaller form, and is treated like a kitten by the children, only changing back after a dissatisfied Zim leaves.

Facts of Doom[]

  • Despite only appearing in Issue 10, the Snarl Beast is quite popular in the Invader Zim community, where fans often depict it as Dib’s pet.
  • Even though the Snarl Beast never made another appearance in the comics, it is speculated that the creature is still on Earth, as it's unlikely that either Zim or Dib sent it back to Sylvestra.
  • The Snarl Beast's physical appearance and predatory mannerisms may be in reference to the cryptid known as the Wampus Cat, in particular the Conway, Texas iteration. Said iteration of the cat has 6 legs.
